2GIG-DW16-433 Thin Door/Window Security System Contact Sensor

The Thin Door/Window Contact is designed for use on doors, windows, and other objects that open and close. It communicates with the control panel using the 433 MHz frequency. When the magnet (which is mounted near the sensor) moves away from or closer to the door contact’s sensor, signals are transmitted to the control panel.

The door contact also has an external input that accepts connections from normally-closed (NC) dry contact devices. For added protection, it is also equipped with a cover tamper.

The 2GIG DW16 is a slim wireless door/window contact that communicates over the 433MHz RF frequency. The sensor supports two programmable loops: Loop 1 is mapped to a hardwired NC (Normally Closed) contact and loop 2 is a fully wireless solution. There is also a built-in reed switch designed to sense the included magnet when within 0.4 inches. This fully wireless function is programmed as loop 2. There is a pair of screw terminals inside the tamper cover where you can land a wired NC contact as well. You can use both loops if desired. The DW16 will protect anything that opens and closes such as a door, window, safe or cabinet. The slim design offers a versatile, aesthetically pleasing security solution for just about any entry point or valuable enclosure.

The DW10 is battery powered with Two (2) CR 2032 coin cell lithium batteries (included). It offers a robust RF signal which has a maximum RF range of 350 nominal feet (open air) from the wireless receiver or control panel. This is a surface mount contact that can be mounted with adhesive tape or screws. Ideally, the sensor (2.59 x 1.03 x 0.49 inches) should be mounted on the window frame or door jamb (non-moving part). Then the magnet (1.3 x 0.435 x 0.312 inches) is to be mounted to the door or window itself (moving part).

Just like any wireless contact, try to keep it away from metallic objects such as steel or aluminum doors and windows. If you are trying to protect a metal door/window with this sensor you will need to pad the unit out from the metallic object using thick foam adhesive tape. The thicker the better since you want to space the device away from the RF interference. Be sure to pad out both the sensor and magnet so they are on the same plane. There are also specialized steel door contacts if needed.
